Our sienna is a well maintained, low mileage (just over 66,000 miles) vehicle. As of august 30 of this year, the transmission planetary gears have totally failed, leaving the vehicle and us stranded over 100 miles from home. Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. While traveling approximately 30 mph, there was a loud noise and a component fractured without warning. The contact was able to merge to the side of the road and, after inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the front passenger side coil spring fractured. The main spring that supported the entire front of the car just collapsed as i was about to park my car. Thank god it did not happen while i was on the highway. Although there was a safety/service bulletin listed by toyota on this part they would not cover the replacement cost of almost $1500.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota sienna. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v273000 (tires) and stated that the part needed was unavailable to perform the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Driver side coil spring broke 3/4 turn off the bottom, vehicle was still drivable - was replaced under warranty. One year later passenger side spring broke in same fashion - had to pay this time. In may 2013, replacement driver side spring broke again in same way. In all cases, examination of the break showed rusty vein in the middle of the coil wire. *tr
