We have classified the 7 complaints from 2006 Toyota Sienna about EQUIPMENT into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 toyota sienna. while driving 30 mph, the spare tire detached from the vehicle due to a rusted cable. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the tire was taken from its original position and placed in the trunk of the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 113,000. updated 7/16/15*cn
Last night as i was driving home on the freeway, my cars navigation system, in addition to the radio/dvd/cd system, shut down showing a black screen. as i kept driving, the side lights (but not the screen) would briefly come on and then turn off again. it did that at least 6 times. everything else works fine, (e.g., lights, air conditioning, signals, etc.), but i have no music and no dvd player. my car is not that old and i keep it in mint condition! for it to have turned off like that is baffling, especially since i just had it totally serviced last month, as i do every year. the dealer, without having seen it, quoted an astronomical amount for something that could quite possibly be a fuse problem or a loose connection somewhere within the system. anyway, that's my problem. *tr
2006 toyota sienna air bag light is lit. possible air bag malfunction. received a letter from toyota to make an appointment to fix the problem, but they want you to pay for the diagnostic test if the part they deemed to be defective is ok. this has not yet led to any crash, injury, etc. if there is a problem with the air bag system, and toyota is aware of the problem, and they are as evidenced by the letter received, then these cars should be recalled and fixed with out charge to the consumer. *tr
Master head unit, including navigation, rear camera, bluetooth, and stereo, stopped working. it makes a clicking noise but the screen is dead and does not respond at all. appears to be from a design defect that causes overheating of the unit over time. multiple reports of similar failures are all over the internet. this is a significant safety issue as the rear camera, bluetooth, and navigation are all important items for extra safety in operating the vehicle. i think most people would expect that a non-mechanical part (like the radio/head unit) would last longer than 6 years, especially when it cost several thousand dollars. *tr
Failure of sidewalls of two bridgestone insignia se200 215/65r16 tires at 5693 miles of normal driving conditions on 2006 toyota sienna van-dot # ob6ve224711 located on tire sidewall. tires sold by monro shop # 190 in christianburg, va. same tire brand, model and size replaced at shop #349 in cheshire, ct at cost of road hazard coverage contract at cost of $87. 80 to cover all four tires. i am very concerned that the other two tires purchased at the same time with the same dot designations may also develop sidewall bulges and be the cause of a serious accident. is there a manufacturing defect on this tire that should be looked into? *tr
Automatic door will not latch closed manually or automatically. *tr

Toyota sienna 2006 1. normal driving with absolutely no accidents in the history of the vehicle. 2. driver's side front seat belt will not retract, making is absolutely useless for its intended purpose. this is a major safety issue. 3. contacted toyota headquarters who claims that the vehicle is outside the normal 3 year warranty period. *tr
I have a 2006 toyota sienna xle. in the last year, when my car has been out in the sun, the rear hatch will not close using the power buttons on the key fob or on the front console. the hatch will close about 10 degrees and then go back up. my neighbor has a 2007 toyota sienna and hers does the exact same thing. i brought my van to the toyota dealership when the rear hatch recall happened, but that replacement did not do anything for my car. i took it back recently and had new sensors put it, but again, no improvement. *tr
I have a 2006 toyota sienna le with less than 40,000 miles. the rear hatch strut has failed and the hatch will not stay open on it's own and comes crashing down with intense force if not held open. when it first happened it came crashing down on my back and hurt it. i am quick to move out of the way now when it closes because it can cause serious harm to anyone in its way. this is of serious concern to me with a 5 year old and a 3 year old. i contacted toyota about it and they want to charge me $400 to fix their problem. i have seen there has been a recall for the 2006 sienna with a power door but not for the other models. my guess is that they might use the same strut or the strut is having the same issue. please investigate this as i have seen numerous people with the same problem. *tr
2006 toyota sienna - air bag light flashing on dash. dealer says needs both driver and passenger sensor replaced. cost $995.00 toyota will only cover repair to 60,000 miles - current mileage is 71,000 miles germain toyota where vehicle was purchased sold us a fake ext warranty for 100,000 miles. if we were sold the toyota warranty this problem would have been covered. have contacted the ohio ag office & ohio dept of insurance. *tr
I own a toyota sienna 2006 model. when in traffic the car sometimes hesitates when the accelator is pressed and at other times it surges forward dangerously. therefore controlling the car is unpredictible. the exact response is also noticable at a traffice light or a stop sign. the failure happens often. *tr
In november 2006 i purchased a lowered floor toyota sienna with automatic wheelchair ramp. the purchase was made through mc mobility in mentor ohio, modifications done by braun corp in indiana. first the gas tank had not been changed which caused malfunctions in the emissions system and associated electronic systems. this took several months to diagnose and fix. then an ac tube running from front to back had not been strapped in properly, causing it to wear through. this took about two months to resolve. the most persistent problem is with the ramp. since the spring of 2007 it has intermittently malfunctioned. the ramp will deploy as designed, but then sometimes the ramp will not stow back in the vehicle. obviously the van cannot be operated with the ramp extended. assistance is needed to manually work against the automatic system to stow the ramp, and assistance is not always around. the malfunction may happen just once and be fine for weeks on either side, or it might happen continually for weeks with obvious impediment to employment and other life activities ...
Brakes: since i bought my car in march of 2006 not even a year old yet, i have had to take my 2006 toyota sienna in every 7-8 thousand miles because the brakes have worn down. the first time it went in at 9900 miles and they replaced my brakes and put new rotors on. the second time they put new brakes on and machined my rotors this was done at 18,100 miles and now its at 27,100 miles and my brakes are shot again and the dealer knowing that this is my third time in for same problem told me now all of a sudden that its my fault and the way i drive the van, and they wanted me to pay this time for the repairs. they made their diagnosis only by taking off the tires, they never took off the front brakes to inspect them and yet they had nerve to notate that all pads were wearing evenly, . so i drove home and a licensed tech changed my brakes for lesser price and this tech noted that all pads on front wore unevenly and that my rotors ...
